For pilot car operators
Real jobs near you and along your route — pay and load details up front, claimed in one tap, no race to the phone. Get paid on completion — your payment is released once the job's marked done. Build a public profile that wins you repeat work.
For drivers, carriers & shippers
Run one truck or a whole fleet — post your oversize move and book verified pilots directly. No phone tag, no waiting on a callback. See each operator's track record and credentials before they roll.
Find the ones who just click.
The right pilot — or the right carrier — is like any good match: when it clicks, you both feel it. AmberLight helps legit, honest companies and great operators find each other and build a real working relationship. Save your favorites, re-book in a tap, grow a roster of regulars you trust. Build your business the right way — one great partner at a time.
And because every job — even with your regulars — stays payment-protected and paid on completion, the trust is real and the money is covered. Trust the person; let AmberLight handle the rest.
You're never locked in. Work with whoever you want, however you want — you can always go direct. You'd just be trading protected pay, prompt pay, and a clean paper trail for a handshake and hope. Most folks decide the 5% is worth never wondering whether they'll get paid.
How AmberLight works
One marketplace, two sides. Posting and claiming take seconds; the money is held and released automatically when the job is done.
Post or browse the load
A carrier posts an oversize move with its dimensions — AmberLight flags how many escorts each state on the route is likely to require, based on current state DOT thresholds. Operators see matching jobs near them with pay shown up front.
Claim it in one tap
The operator claims the job — or counters the rate — with no bidding war and no phone tag. The carrier sees their verified badges, credentials and track record, and the agreed pay is locked up front before the wheels turn. Both parties get a digitally signed rate confirmation.
Run it & get paid
Run the move. When it's marked complete, the payment is released to the operator — a flat 5% from the pilot (carriers pay no platform fee), no invoices to chase, no net-30. Payout timing depends on how the job was funded and your bank; see the Payment Terms for details. The carrier gets a receipt and the operator gets an invoice for their records, and both sides leave a rating.
Counter, don't underbid.
Carriers post their rate. Operators can accept it or send one counter. Carriers confirm or pass — then that number is locked in and held until the job's done, and that's what gets paid. No bidding wars racing everyone to the bottom, no flat-rate take-it-or-leave-it. The rate you agree on is the rate you get.
Pilots pay 5%, only on completed jobs. Carriers pay the rate — no platform fee. No subscription, no listing fees.
Payment is collected up front through Stripe and released to the operator when the job's marked complete — no chasing invoices, no net-30.
COI, escort cert and license on file. Carriers see real credentials and ratings, not just a phone number.
Do you need a pilot car?
Width, height, length and weight thresholds vary by state. Check the escort requirements for every state your load travels through.

What is a pilot car?
A pilot car (also called an escort vehicle) travels with an oversize or overdimensional load to warn traffic, scout for hazards and low clearances, and keep the move safe and legal. Depending on the state and load size, a move may need a lead car, a chase car, a height pole, or a police escort.
What is AmberLight?
AmberLight is a marketplace that connects oversize-load carriers and brokers with verified pilot car / escort operators. Carriers post a load and book an escort; the carrier's payment is held and released to the operator when the job is confirmed complete; operators claim jobs, run them, and get paid — all in one app.
How much does AmberLight cost to use?
Carriers pay no platform fee and no subscription. Operators pay a flat 5% service fee on completed jobs.
How do operators get paid?
When a carrier books a job, payment is held by Stripe. After the job is completed, the payout is released to the operator — so pilots aren't chasing invoices.
How do I become a pilot car operator on AmberLight?
Sign up and create an operator profile with your service area, capabilities, and credentials (insurance and certifications). Once your profile is set, you can start claiming jobs as carriers post them in your area.
