Get your oversize load covered
From setting up your company to posting a load and paying once the job is done — here is the whole flow, step by step. There is no fee for carriers: you pay the escort rate and nothing on top.
- Your DOT and/or MC number, so AmberLight can verify your authority with FMCSA.
- Your load details — pickup and drop-off, dimensions, pickup time and estimated delivery, and which escort positions you need.
- A payment method — card, digital wallet, or ACH bank transfer.
You do not need a Stripe account. Carriers just check out — you never set up Stripe. Only pilots connect a Stripe account, and only so they can receive their payout.
Step 1: Create your account and carrier profile
Add your company, contact, and address, plus your DOT and/or MC number. AmberLight checks your authority against FMCSA — once it is active, every load you post carries a verified badge so pilots know you are a legitimate, authorized carrier.

Tip — Make sure your FMCSA operating authority is active — it is the first thing a pilot checks before claiming your load.
Step 2: Post a load
One form covers the whole move: pickup and drop-off with a live route, the load’s dimensions, a required pickup time and an estimated delivery, and each escort position you need — Lead, Chase, High Pole, Steer, or Route Survey — with its day rate and number of days.
Add any extra charges the run calls for — overnight, deadhead, standby, or a fuel surcharge as a percentage.
Tip — Realistic pickup and delivery windows plus accurate dimensions get your load covered faster and avoid surprises on the road.
Step 3: Fund the booking at checkout
When you book a pilot, you pay the escort rate shown at booking. Pay with a credit or debit card, a digital wallet (Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, Cash App Pay), or an ACH bank transfer. ACH can take a few extra business days to clear.
No carrier fee. You pay the escort rate — nothing is added on top. AmberLight’s flat 5% service fee comes out of the pilot’s payout, not your pocket.
You and the pilot both e-sign the Rate Confirmation Agreement, and your payment is held — it is only released when the job’s done. The full breakdown is in the Payment Terms.
Step 4: Get covered
Pilots claim your open positions at the posted rate or send a counter-offer. Before you confirm, review each pilot’s badges, ratings, and credentials right on their profile.

Step 5: Manage the load and release payment
Track every escort position’s status in one place, and open the signed rate confirmation and your receipt whenever you need them.
When the work is done, confirm completion to release the pilot’s payment. If you do not act, it releases automatically 72 hours after the job is marked complete. If something is wrong, open a dispute before that deadline.
If a booking changes
If you cancel, a flat kill fee may be owed to the pilot out of the held funds, based on how close to the scheduled start you cancel:
- 24 hours or morebefore the start — $0, full refund.
- 12 to 24 hoursbefore the start — $150 to the pilot.
- Less than 12 hoursbefore the start, or after the job has started — $250.
If a pilot cancels or no-shows, you are fully refunded and no fee applies. Full details are in the Payment Terms.
