Chicken coop

CB slang for a weigh station.

A 'chicken coop' is a highway weigh station or scale house. 'Coop's open' means it's staffed and trucks must pull in; 'coop's closed' means roll on by. Oversize loads with permits still have to play by scale and routing rules, so knowing the coops on a route matters.
