Overhang

Load that extends beyond the front or rear of the trailer, with its own escort and flagging rules.

Overhang is the portion of a load that extends past the front or rear of the trailer. States regulate front and rear overhang separately from overall length, and large overhang can trigger a rear escort, red flags or lights on the end of the load, and specific marking rules. Rear overhang limits are usually stricter than front.
