Oversize permit
The state authorization that lets an oversize/overweight load travel a specific route.
An oversize/overweight permit is issued by each state's permit office (usually the DOT) and authorizes a specific load to travel a specific route, often within set days and hours. The permit spells out the conditions — escort requirements, height-pole and police-escort triggers, travel restrictions, and routing. A multi-state move needs a permit from each state it crosses.
