Double drop

A trailer with a sunken well in the middle for very tall freight.

A double drop has three deck levels — the raised gooseneck, a low center 'well,' and the raised rear over the wheels. The deep well in the middle carries very tall loads (like industrial equipment) that wouldn't clear height limits on a step deck or flatbed. The well length is fixed, so freight has to fit it.
